Weird Sick

~~~photo admittedly stolen. I'm so sorry! I'm too sick/tired/lazy--no, really sick--to take my own photo of my new treasure.~~~
I've got the weirdest bug that I just can't figure out. I'll feel fine for a couple hours, and then wham, fever and chills, joint and muscle aches, nauseous...back and forth, back and forth.
This morning when I got up I felt pretty good so DS and I got in the car, drove to the next town to hit their city-wide garage sales. This is an annual tradition, and we usually come home with great stuff. Last year stunk and I said I wouldn't go back. This year my son bought a Nintendo game and I got some lace curtains. That's it.
Why is it that when you're not looking, you see exercise videos everywhere? Then when you're looking, nada. There were about 60 sales on the list and I think we hit 50 of them. (Thank goodness for the sales at the fairgrounds, one-stop shopping.) I saw four exercise videos in all of these sales, and three of them were Tae-Bo, which I'm not interested in.
After a pit stop, we drove home. It took us all of two hours to hit all these sales. On a whim, even though I felt like garbage, I stopped at the Salvation Army. I found some vintage Fire King Copper custard bowls, six of them, 50 cents apiece. They're the same size as ramekins, which we use all the time. Because I'm soooo into vintage kitchen stuff, and these were pearly and pretty, I snatched them up. They're still on the counter waiting for me to take the price tag off, disinfect them (yes, I'm OCD about used stuff) and throw them in the dishwasher.
When I got home, I went straight to bed. We were home well before noon. I got up, ate a little something, and went straight back to bed. Repeat. I'm going back soon, but just wanted to blog today because I don't think I have missed many days.
I've only had 18 out of 31 points today. I don't know if I'll make my quota today or not. I may, as I'm feeling a touch better, enough so to eat a little something.
It's just a weird bug. Hubby says it's going around. Gee, I wonder how many people I spread it to today? I shouldn't have gone out, but I carry hand sanitizer and I wasn't sneezing or coughing or touching anything because most everything was junk anyway.
As usual, I'm behind on blogs. Congrats to everyone who lost. (I did skim.) For those of you who have Body Buggs and aren't wearing them, ahem, you know who I'm talking to, put it on! Fake it until you make it. =) You've come too far and I'm counting on you to get back on the wagon! (That's about as Jillian as I get! lol)
Body Crud and Food Crud
Body Crud:
I'm sick. I've got the chills, fever, aches, sore throat, icky nose, lungs hurt, joints hurt--I'm thinking the beginning of the flu. I woke up a little icky this morning, but after dinner, ewww. On the news at 10, they said the flu is really going around. Yay--not.
More Body Crud:
Well, this isn't crud, it's good news. I will count my ablation surgery this summer a success. I finally got a real period. (Sorry guys.) Today was the second day. For the past few years, the second day was couch day, was wishing for massive pain killers day, was the horrible day. Today? I didn't even take a motrin. How cool is that!
Not cool? I just got a letter from my insurance stating the anesthesia is not covered, and I owe $2380. Holy sh*t. I didn't get preapproval. Hmm, I remember calling and asking if I even needed preapproval and I was told no. The anesthesiologist does not participate with our provider. I hate this kind of battle, and dang it, I'll be battling. I knew who the doctor was, the facility--they were covered. They didn't ask me who the anesthesiologist was, and I didn't know, but I didn't even think to bring that up. They certainly didn't when I called. I'm not happy.
Food Crud:
We celebrated. Hubby brought me two dozen roses and surprised me by taking the afternoon off. My kitchen smells heavenly! That was a surprise because we usually don't do anniversary gifts. I think he felt it was special because it was the 20th. We then went to our favorite restaurant in our town. It's a bar that was built on the lake. It's old, has atmosphere, and is very popular amongst the locals. I had a pork tenderloin sandwich (breaded and fried) and some French fries. No regrets at all. I even had a couple cheese ball appetizers. I figured my dinner was about 24points. Thankfully I left most of the fries behind. So I'm over points for the day, but I have Flex points--which I never use--but I'm using them today.
It was really nice, and we enjoyed watching the boaters on the lake, talking about the past 20 years. We discussed the fact we got pregnant on our 10th wedding anniversary, but lost the baby. That was hard. I always remember that on our anniversary. Then I just look at my wonderful son and I smile. When we got home, we looked at our wedding album and talked about times gone by. It was a nice trip down memory lane.
That's it. That was our day. All gazillion points worth. This is the first time in seven or eight months since we've gone to this restaurant. I don't plan on going again for awhile. I think every once in a blue moon, it's okay to eat garbage. Not every day, not every month, but every half year or so. We'll see come Monday with weigh in, I guess.
I'm just hoping this body crud is short-lived. I'm sure healthier than I have been, so hopefully I'll be able to fight it off easier.
Twenty Years Ago Today...
We were married at The Chapel in the Hills (Stav Kirk replica) in Rapid City, South Dakota. My mother made my dress. I hated the dress, it made me feel fat and she picked the pattern, not me. Sorry, Mom, but it's true. It was a beautiful day. It's hard to imagine 20 years have passed. It seems like a lifetime ago. It was a lifetime ago.
We look sooo young! I guess we were. I was 24, he was 29.
I'm ready for at least another 20, how about you, honey?
I Tried to Watch the Biggest Loser, But...
the phone rang in the second half. And then I talked for the rest of that hour, plus another half hour.
What happened to the gal--was it Tracy--who got sick? That scared the you-know-what out of me, and to be honest, that's one reason I do not like TBL, I think it's too much, too soon. My point was proven. With the coach, too. I was greatly relieved to see all the doctors, all the tests, all the scientific study.
I haven't watched TBL since season one when Caroline Rhea was the host. I watched part of the first season, thought it was sensationalism, and gave it up. Plus, I really didn't like Jillian. (Ducking and running for cover!)
Tonight? I enjoyed watching the contestants tell their story. I actually had tears on my face as the lady told about losing her family. I enjoyed the medical aspect. I could not stand Jillian or Bob--is it Bob? And then the phone rang.
That kind of attitude does not fly with me. If I was yelled at like that, I'd be the first one to say FU and walk out the door. I have no room in my life for that militant behavior. I detest it. Really. lol But it sells. I would be the one who would walk out the door and say, "I'll show you" and do it on my own.
OH WAIT....I am doing it on my own. At a slower pace. Without a Body Bugg. My husband grew up on a ranch, so I'm with a former rancher, just not on a ranch. lol
I'll watch the show this season. I know I won't like the screaming one bit. I'll keep an open mind. I'll probably enjoy the rest of it. The only reason I even turned it on is that when I started my blog last February, bloggers would talk about the show. I had no idea who or what they were talking about. I kind of want to be in the loop. Plus I'm on a similar journey--mine is slower, just as serious.
I'm hoping bloggers will recap the show tomorrow since I missed the last half. Next Tuesday I'll just have to not answer the phone if it rings. lol
