A health, fitness, and weight-loss story.

This is BIG News For Me!

Coming out of hiding a bit sooner than I expected, but this is just too big to me to not blog about.

Exercise and losing weight WORKS.

I just got my latest blood work results in the mail.

For the first time in 15 years, I have completely normal triglycerides. My HDL/LDL ratio is excellent. My total cholesterol is excellent. My HDL is a little low but it's up 50%, so a huge improvement.

I am so psyched I almost have tears. (After finishing writing this, I do have tears.)

Another small NSV: Yesterday it was cold in my neck of the woods. Even though I haven't lost much weight since April/May, I grabbed a pair of jeans out of the closet. The last time I tried these on, they went on, were skin tight in the legs, and all you could see in the front was gut-covered white granny panties. lol It was inches from being able to close. Yesterday I wore those very jeans to the store--because they buttoned and zipped up.

So the darned scale isn't cooperating, everything else IS. I'm losing some inches, obviously I'm gaining some muscle, and most importantly, my insides are getting HEALTHIER!!!

WIN/WIN!!! Go Jo!!!

So instead of constantly worrying about my triglycerides, ratios, etc., now I only have one thing to worry about: upping that HDL more. The doctor wrote "Exercise will raise this." LMAO...I'd like to invite her to my living room, I do exercise and give it 150%. However, strangely enough, this past week I've decided to make a goal of not 10,000 steps a day, but 20,000. Maybe my body knew I had to move even more. I'm working my way up slowly, and my average for the week is 19,000. So I'm almost there.

And for my final video selection, my favorite "in the mood" music. This song is very fitting for how I'm feeling at this vey moment:

On Hold #5

Hooked on a feeling. Yup, I am--only it's not the feeling in the song. What am I hooked on? FRUSTRATION!!!!!

Why, oh why, is the weight not coming off? I got a Fit Bit and I have had awesome calorie deficits--I gained a half a pound. WTH??? Saw my doctor today, didn't mention the weight loss at all, but did mention that my hair is coming out and getting thinner, that my insomnia is really bad, and I'm worried about my joints--specifically my knees. She informed me the hair loss is common after surgery. I countered with the fact that this has been happening since about April. I used to put two loops in my pony tails, now it's three. Yup, my hair is thinner. So I go tomorrow for blood work.

Anyway, I'm having a frustration party. Will be back to full-time blogging very soon--school starts next week and it will be nice to get in a schedule again.

Until then, Hooked on a Feeling. It's a good laugh, it's David Hasselhoff. I'm surprised he can sing--the video is hilarious, though.
