Happy Halloween!

Yay, it's Halloween--time for all the cute little kids to ring our doorbell. My son has announced he's too old to go out this year, so he's going to hand out candy--something that he loves to do.

Hubby bought Snickers, Butterfingers and Tootsie Rolls. I love Snickers and decided I'd have one. Well, then I read the nutritional information on the bag. Just one tiny bite is 80 calories. It's just not worth it to me--I'd rather have 80 calories of FILL rather than 80 calories of tiny--delicious but tiny.

So I'll celebrate with a Sugar-Free Chocolate Jell-o Pudding, instead.

Happy Halloween!

Last Night

After I wrote my whine post, (I always regret when I do that!), my husband came up to me and asked if I wanted a back pop. (A short version of a back rub, enough to relieve the tension, which usually includes something popping.)

I asked him if he had read my blog. He said no. I didn't believe him and thought he was acting out of guilt or compassion. Nope. He then said, did you complain about me? Yes, I did! He laughed.

He's a good man, and I try not to complain, but sometimes I think we all have little complaints inside our brains and getting them out of our brains helps. So I got a back rub that I so desired and felt so much better.

Then I felt guilty.

Of course.

Today is a fresh, new day with lots of possibilities. Moving on.

Just Whining...

I'm not in bed yet, but these are my thoughts:

I'm tired. Damned tired.

If I could have anything right now, it would be a full body massage. Detail on the glutes/hips and feet and shoulders. (Do they do glutes in massages?? Kinda weird, maybe I don't want a glute massage.) Then I would melt, sleep for hours and hours.

The reality? I took two Ibuprofen, hoping it will erase the stress of the day which my body holds on to too tightly.

Tomorrow we have a full school day. Then I have to do laundry, clean the house, balance the checkbook, pay the bills, buy Halloween candy, carve the pumpkins, clean up dog poo, clean the cat boxes, make menus, make a grocery list, go to the grocery store, carry the groceries in, put the groceries away, do more laundry because I'm really behind, gas the car, call the insurance company, make a vet appointment for my precious Pip who is biting his own hair off, deposit a check, do the floors again because dogs shed a lot, do more laundry, cook, clean up the mess, plan school for next week, order another science program because my science-loving kid has almost finished his physical science book that was to last the entire year--that's a good thing. Saturday night my son will hand out candy and I'll clicker train the pups--perfect time to perfect our doorbell skills with tons and tons of practice. Oh, I have to rake the leaves, clean out the garage so I can park in there...Oh, and workout every day, too.

Friday my hubby goes to work, will come home, eat, lie on the couch and watch TV, Saturday he'll work all day, come home and eat dinner and lie on the couch all night, and Sunday he'll lie on the couch all day watching football. He usually helps a little, but I'm not asking this weekend because he's been putting in crazy amounts of overtime for weeks. Son will help some, too.

(((Thinking back to when I worked full time, I worked all day, then came home and took care of the baby, did laundry,cooked, cleaned and worked myself to exhaustion every day. Hmmm)))

The boys usually help when I ask. My son can really do some great cleaning now, and he cooks! But the balance of the work falls on me. As it should--the only thing is that no one realizes that even though I don't get paid, I do have a full-time job as a teacher. While we're at home, I don't have time to clean the house, or do a lot of laundry or get into anything too time consuming because we're busy with school. I do some things, but--

There. Just a whine, getting it out of my system. Taking care of my family and home is something I love to do, but I'm not a multi-tasker and I get so overwhelmed. Tomorrow, after a good night's sleep, I'll be able to face the challenge of the days ahead much better. Right now it just exhausts me to think of everything.

Loooong Day

It was a very long and stressful day.

We got a phone call mid morning wanting us to show up early for our afternoon appointment in a town over an hour away. Of course neither of us had showered, we were at the table doing pajama school. Scurry, run around, accommodate the oral surgeon's office, and we were out the door an hour later.

They forgot to thank us. lol

Surgery is in a couple weeks. Like the doctor much better than the last, but I'm still a nervous momma.

Got home at suppertime, DS made sloppy joe's, then out the door to art class.

Got home, picked up the mail, and I got another bill from my surgeon--the one the insurance didn't pay and denied, which I protested. They paid! YAY $2500 I don't have to pay (and never should have had to!)

Art teacher called and said class wouldn't finish until 9. Good grief, I was ready to collapse.

~~~
Thinking back on the day, it was very stressful. I was not ready to leave so early and being rushed is not good for me. Then when we hit the road, a deputy followed me (on my tail-end, too!) for almost 30 miles. Do you know how nervous that made me? I drove 56-57. UGH I finally took a wrong turn, intentionally, just to get him off my butt. Whew, that was a relief. I was just waiting for those lights to go on any second. It would be just my luck to get a ticket for going 56 in a 55. lol
~~~
I forgot to eat lunch or take anything with me in the car because I was rushed. HUGE mistake. I was starving. I drove by a McDonald's and wanted a buger so bad, and I've never liked McDondald's burgers. Finally pulled into a convenience store and I bought a small milk. Milk fills me, and it worked.

I always carry something in the car with me--this was so out of the ordinary. Ugh.

Now I think I'll go to bed and sleep.

I don't have anywhere to go tomorrow! YAY!!! The best day of the week, one where I don't have to go, go, go. I'll definitely get a workout in, which I have sorely missed the past three days.

Another day in the life.

Pssst

Caitlin wants more readers/followers to help her out. She feels it will help her with accountability. I agree.

Give her a visit, please! =)

Vikings v. Jo's Gym

Jo's Gym wins!

The Vikings game started at noon today. I needed to work out. The 52-inch TV is in the living room aka Jo's Gym. All my weights, my fanny lifter, my sculpting stick and DVDs and videos are in the living room.

Hubs is a die-hard Vikings fan, always has been even when he didn't live in Minnesota. A little after 11 I mentioned I needed to work out. He asked how long it would take. The workout was 50 minutes, but I needed time to set up, get my water, get my shoes on, etc.

He was a little grumpy. "Kick off is at noon." I think that's all he said. I don't know. He was already parked in the living room, probably for pre-game shows. He got up off the couch and left the room so I could workout.

You know, support comes in strange ways. To me, knowing my husband, this was one of the best ways he could ever show me support. While words are great: good job, you're doing great, etc., I really think actions are louder than words. This spoke volumes to me.

Thanks, honey. I appreciate you giving up the living room after working overtime all week, being exhausted, and wanting nothing more than to enjoy the game on the big TV. It means a lot. =)
