I just ordered P90X.
My husband mentioned in passing today that I should do P90X. I said, "Are you out of your
x&*%ing mind?"
Then I thought about it. Then I watched clips on You Tube. Then I thought some more.
Me, P90X? Hell yes, me! =)
A health, fitness, and weight-loss story.

Technology
First, I want to thank everyone for their comments, help and ideas for the recent pleas I've given. I received many great ideas for chicken (yes, including Mexican dishes! lol) and I'm anxious to give them all a try.
Now here's yet another plea. We just came up in the world. For years we had a great cell phone plan until the company got bought out. They charged us roaming fees and to make a long story short, when our contract expired, we expired our relationship with the company. We started using Trac Fones. Well, that hasn't been going well lately. I couldn't call my son when I was in the store: no service. That happened a few times. So we hit Radio Shack yesterday and looked at cell phone packages. While there, I tried to call hubby on my cell...no service.
We ended up signing our lives away, but we got really cool phones and a really cool package. I'm just hoping we can ditch our land line to help pay for this--that depends on the cable company.
At any rate, I'm now the proud owner of a Sprint Moment phone. We stayed up very late playing around with our phones. I know *nothing* about apps--but the first thing I looked for was a Calorie King app. Doesn't exist for the Moment. (I could cry, I love Calorie King.)
So my plea is this:
Are there any cool apps for a Moment (I think apps for androids will work?--I have no idea what I'm talking about though) for calorie counting and fitness, health stuff?

Food
All last year I worried about calories, and this year, as I've mentioned before, I've been shifting toward quality of food. It's tough to make that switch!
I've been eating a serving of almonds daily. They're supposed to reduce your LDL, plus they're a good protein and fat. I've been getting in more olive oil, Promise, etc. My fat percentage was really low, and I'm aiming to get 30% now. It's still tough, but I'm in the high 20s now.
The protein bit is more difficult. I like beef. There, I said it. Not supposed to eat a lot of beef because of saturated fat. So I eat 93% ground beef, and lower-fat beef. Chicken? Well, chicken is chicken. I could live the rest of my life, never eat another piece, and never miss it. So we've been eating a lot of chicken. Boring!!! lol
We went shopping tonight and bought salmon, fish, some pork cuts that are pretty lean. I've got tuna, cottage cheese, ground beef and loads of chicken. We also bought beans. We have egg night once or twice a week. That's actually cheap and easy. I have omelets or scrambled with one or two real eggs and some Egg Beaters. Everyone makes their eggs the way they like them.
Chicken is the best bang for the nutritional buck, though. I don't have many chicken recipes. Those I do have I enjoy, but DH--not so much. Anyone have any good chicken recipes they want to share? We both scoff at the idea of using chicken in Mexican food. That's beef territory!
So we're desperately trying to improve our protein. Any ideas?
Had I tried to do this last year, I would have failed. Small changes have worked for me (us) very well. When I started this blog, I used to have "I Can Do That's" that I'd post each week. I got away from posting those, but I still do them: Find something to improve, something little, and do it! It all adds up.

Monday Morning Weigh-In
I'm breaking my rule of only reporting my weigh-ins every other week. It's a new decade, though, so it made me happy!

Too Quiet
I've been too quite this week.
A heartfelt thank you for all the comments on my last post. I read every one several times. The support makes all the difference in the world.
I had an emotional week. Right after I posted my photos, I looked at my blog page. I scrolled up and down, up and down. I was in disbelief. I wept. In fact, I stayed up way late that night with tears streaming down my face.
I'm too close to myself. I always wondered why bloggers couldn't see their losses that were as plain as day! I mean looking at photos it's always so obvious. However, being too close to myself, I fell into that trap. I knew I had lost inches--I knew it, I saw it in my clothes, and I could feel it on my body. However, when I look in the mirror, especially with no clothes on, I saw FAT. I didn't see it. With clothes on, I still was seeing the fat.
Yes, there's still a lot of fat there. Yet I think I had forgotten how big I was. I just know the now. While looking at the photos that night, I remembered. So many things came to my mind such as sitting and having the weight of that big belly on my thighs. It was so uncomfortable. I still have a belly that is too large, and I can sometimes feel it on my legs depending on how I'm sitting, but gone is that heavy weight. The photos also reminded me of how I used to bend over. One leg had to go out straight or to the side, then I'd bend. Had to do that to make room for the belly. Now I just bend.
It was a very emotional week for me. It opened my eyes, I felt great, and full of pride in my hard work.
Toward the end of the week I saw my new doctor. I liked him well enough. He took the time to listen to what I had to say, although I don't know that I got across how bad the pain has been. He wants to try me on no estrogen birth control pills for a few months to get me to quit ovulating. He thinks that the issues are all surrounding my right ovary. I won't go into the details and bore everyone more than I already have. I'm not thrilled with birth control pills, to be honest. I'm scared to death I'll have a weight gain--even though they have no estrogen. I gained a lot the few times I've been on them years ago. I'll give it a try.
Nothing for pain. Grr. He told me to take Aleve. Well, Ibuprofen and Aleve do nothing. So hopefully the pills will kick in.
If the birth control pills do not work, I'll have the ovary removed. Just that ovary. He also wants me to have a tubal, even though I assured him that was not necessary.
I will say this: He started off great. He noticed my weight loss and congratulated me on my 30-pound loss. LMAO!!! I kept telling him it was 69 pounds (as of that morning) and he kept saying 30. He's going by the chart, but I didn't start seeing this doctor until June of last year. So of course he's not going to see a higher weight. Those other 39 pounds lost wanted me to fight for them, so I did. He asked me what I was doing, what my goal was, and to keep up the great work. My doctor never mentions my weight at all. She's morbidly obese herself, which I think is why. Her nurse does, though. I understand that and I'm not looking for kudos from her--just good medical care. It was nice that he brought it up, though.
And finally, my pulse--when I was nervous about the exam--was 64! The nurse took it for the whole minute, none of that 10 seconds multiplied by 6. 64! WOWSER! It was in the 80s when I started. My heart loves what I'm doing!!
So now it's time to go into weekend mode: do laundry, clean the house, finish the errands I've been running, so it can start all over on Monday. Had a great workout this morning and am planning on weights tonight. Pain's been light today, which is great.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

My One Year Anniversary (2-16)
282.5
I saw this and thought I looked like a ball.
I can barely bend over.
March of 2009. Down 10 pounds.
The picture from hell. This is the worst photo of my existence.

April 2009. 17 pounds down.

Thought I'd take things easy, chop off all my hair and gray naturally.
Jeans were size 20.

February 15, 2010. Same shirt as above with lots of extra room.

Down 68 pounds.

Look at all the extra material!

Shirt hangs, before it showed every sin.

I only lost 17 pounds between the seated photo and the last batch, yet I lost 2 whole sizes. I attribute that to exercising.
I still have a ways to go. My goal is 162, but I know that will change. I'll know the right weight for me when I get there.
I averaged 1.3 pounds lost per week over the past year. The jeans are a size 16. I would have worn a shirt that fits, but I tried the few I own on and none fit. One does, but it's in the washer--bad timing.
The part you can't see:
Normal blood pressure
Normal blood sugar
Resting pulse rate dropped from high 80s to 70s
I weigh less than my husband
I can bend and tie my shoes or paint my toe nails
My feet are no longer swollen
The one shirt I do own that fits is a size large. No X, just large!
I'm healing--lots of old wounds and hurts being resolved
Growing strong mentally and physically
I no longer fear being under 200 pounds
I can run for a bit if I want to. (I still don't want to, but I can.)
I'm getting fit!
Lots more! Can't even think of it all. The world is my playground!
Goals for the upcoming year:
Get off the triglyceride meds
Get off the triglyceride meds
Up that HDL
Eat more healthy fat
Eat more healthy protein
Exercise like mad because I **love** it!
Have this uterus issue surgically resolved
Live, love and laugh!
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all my blogging friends. I know I would not have had the success without all of you. It has made all the difference in the world. Thank you for following my journey!
I am very happy!
