2 NSVs today

I had two NSVs today, one was small but fun, the other was hugely significant.

The small one: I have an old shirt that I made for our Cub Scouts pack when I was den leader. It was white, and the den drew designs on it in Sharpie marker. I have no where to wear that now that we're done with Cub Scouts, so I work out in it. Today it slipped off my shoulder. Like in the 80s when we wore our shirts off the shoulder? I thought that was way cool.

The other is huge. I was having a lot of anxiety today for various reasons. I had weird dreams, stressful dreams, all night and I was on high anxiety alert today. I debated exercising, and I put it off to the afternoon. By the time I started, I was about ready to take a Xanax. My stomach was churning, breathing was getting difficult, but I decided to push through it.

As I was exercising, it melted away. I was thinking about it when I started, but it left me almost immediately. When I was finished, I could not believe how well I felt. It was amazing to me. I find it huge. I burnt off all that negative pent-up energy. Wonderful.

Will remember that for in the future. Now if only I could get to the point where the anxiety never hit me, I'd be even better, but I'm running with this victory!

Just My Luck Revisted...

I emailed Mr. Simmons this afternoon, thanking him and telling him he made my month.

It was short, it as sweet but

he emailed me back!

Ahhh, I have lived to tell the tale!

Now I feel muuuuch better.

lol

Just My Luck

When I turned my computer on this morning, the first thing I did was check email. I got an email from Ang telling me to check Richard Simmons' chat transcript, because he mentioned ME.

He did, he did!

Yesterday, he asked members of his clubhouse to email him about their New Years resolutions. I don't normally make them, but this year I had a few. So I wrote about mine.

I mentioned that my husband took the week after Christmas off, and we went through every room of our house and decluttered. We got a dumpster and filled it twice. We took van loads of donations to the Salvation Army, Humane society, and hundreds of books to the library for their sale.

Richard Simmons quoted that part of my email in his chat. He also mentioned I wasn't there.

Why? Why did we have obedience class last night? Why did I not get to talk with him? lol

It's just my luck. I am so honored, (not to mention proud of what we did) but hopefully that encouraged others to declutter, as it's very liberating. But why did I miss the chat?

Years ago when he opened an Anatomy Asylum near our home, I called to get info about it. Instead of answering my questions, they took my name and number. While I was at school (high school) Richard Simmons himself called the house and talked to my mom. (I didn't join, I didn't have the money, but it was so cool anyway. And I was less than 120 pounds then, but I still loved him and exercising.)

Why did I miss that call? lol

Right after he got back from his Cruise to Lose this year, I wrote him an email. Just mentioned a few things about myself and my journey and asked for a picture for my fridge. I used the "Email Richard" form on the Clubhouse page. Right after I clicked send, a screen came up that said this: Website down for maintenance.

I stared at the screen, wondering if it could have gone through anyway. I decided to not send another email because I know he's busy, I'm not hurting and I don't need anything, and I didn't want to seem pushy in case it did go through.

I have lost my nerve to email again, except when it comes to requests for emails for chat, like yesterday's.

So it's just my luck, always coming close, but no cigar. lol Maybe that's my fate in life. That's okay. In a way it's kind of funny, but to be completely honest, I am terribly disappointed I missed his chat.

Oh well. Life goes on. Time to exercise now--with Richard, in my living room!

Tidbits

I'm feeling great today!

~~~
TVP: Textured Vegetable Protein. It's the same stuff you buy in the freezer section, Boca Crumbles, only making it yourself is much cheaper. Here's a link to Heather's blog where you can read what she says about it and read the comments, too, as there's lots of info in there as well.
I have known about TVP for years, but never found it in my store. Heather told me it was in her oganic section, and that very night I found it at my store in the organic section! Woot!
~~~~

Didn't make it to the store last night, which works to my advantage. DH has to go out of town and so I'll be revamping my menus to include stuff he doesn't like!

~~~~
Very upset I'm going to miss Richard Simmons' chat tonight. Due to DH being gone, we have to go to obedience class tonight instead of later in the week. I am really bummed, because I find his chats so energizing!
~~~~

This weekend I went downstairs and stared at the BowFlex. Uh-huh, it isn't going to happen. I just don't like the thing. I wanted to use it because it's paid for, it's there, but no. Not even if I spray painted it pink and made the bench some pretty floral slip covers. Nope.

So I'm going to continue to do my cardio workouts and add to them. Every other day I'll do Sweatin' to the Oldies 2 which has a killer arm workout with toning at the end of the tape. I do use weights for this and my arms are firming. I can feel it. Then on the opposite days, I'll do Sweatin' to the Oldies 1, which is only 40 minutes, followed by a toning tape. Today I screwed up and did Sweatin' 2 when I meant to do Sweatin' 1. I did the toning tape anyway. I did Toning Downtown. I'll alternate between Toning Downtown and No Ifs, Ands or Butts.

That will just have to do for awhile. I'm at the stage where I'm really feeling it, so I'm not going to freak out about weight lifting right now. I think I may look into pilates in the future. For now I'm good. I own the tapes, I'm good to go.

~~~~
Today is a starving day. I'm going to have to dip into my 35 today as I just can't get full. My stomach has been grumbling all day long. I couldn't save for my Taco Bell tonight, so I'll dip. That's what they're there for. I still have 15 points left, but I have to have a snack later this afternoon as we won't eat dinner until 8 and that obedience class is lot of exercise in and of itself!
One bean burrito won't fill me tonight, that's for sure.
Monday Weigh-In Day
257.5
-1 pound
This is a milestone day! I have lost 25 pounds! Woo-hoo. I get to fill in two goals on my goal chart, another 5-pound loss and that big 25-pound loss.
I was hoping so hard for that 1 pound loss this morning! I am thrilled!
In Memory of Dad
One year ago today my dad passed away.
I miss him.
This is how I like to remember Dad, at his job that he loved. How lucky can one be to love your job the entire time you are working--over 40 years. I can still see him wearing his overalls and hat, carrying his lunch box and going off to work. Every time I hear a whistle blow, I think of him. We live one mile from train tracks, and I hear them all the time.
We didn't always see eye to eye. It wasn't until my Mom passed almost 16 years ago that I got really close to him. I always loved him, though. He favored my sister, but that was okay with me because I knew he loved me, too. Even though he never said it. As he lay dying, he squeezed my hand repeatedly. That was his way of saying I love you when he could no longer speak the words.
My son and I spent a couple hours alone with him the day he passed. My sister showed up later and we sat on either side of him. He held each of our hands. We left at 8 pm that night, and he died shortly thereafter. He needed to go alone. I went back to see him that night, to say goodbye. He was at peace. He died in a VA, and when I was at the desk, they wheeled him out. It was a moment I will never forget. I was so proud, as they had an American flag draped over the special gurney. I put my hand on my heart as they wheeled him by. I have that flag now.
He was a Marine in WWII. He quit high school to join up. He was 16.
Dad was just shy of 82 when he passed. He lived a good life. It was his time. How lucky can you be, in your home up until two months before the very end.
I mourn him, I mourn my mom who passed almost 16 years ago, and I mourn selling their home. When I went home, everything was the same as it had been when Mom was alive except for the dust bunnies and his table clutter. When I went home, I felt close to Mom even though she was gone. All her stuff, her decorating, her notes were still around. Cleaning out that house was so final.
His death was the end of an era.
I miss his laugh, I miss his teasing, I miss his generosity. I miss him fighting with my husband over politics. Dad was a democrat, a union man, a union leader. My husband is as republican as they come. I'm in the middle, as always. I miss his silly phrases: "a fart in a skillet," "slicker than snot," using the word dope instead of information. That one killed me as a child of the 70s, because everyone knew that dope was that illegal, bad stuff.
He made me mad, he made me laugh, and he made me feel safe and secure.
I miss him.
