A health, fitness, and weight-loss story.

A Fresh New Day!

Today was a fresh new day, a fresh new year, and I felt a lot better. Still crampy, still twingy, but better. I am grateful.

Step count: 20,140
Miles: 8.53
Calorie Burn: 2388

I did three workouts, which I logged on the fitness blog. All very easy workouts, but it felt great to be back in the groove.

I used to belong to an exercise check-in that I loved very much. I feel like I'm friends with the women there and always looked forward to what they did, what they had to share, and to reporting in. When the pain started and my workouts changed, I started feeling uncomfortable reporting my workouts. Not because they were judgmental--nothing could be further from the truth, they're wonderful. It was ME...I felt uncomfortable that I couldn't be doing what I wanted to be doing. So I debated using that new blog I set up or not because it does bother me the days I can't even do a workout.

After thinking long and hard about this, I will still pop in to the check-in and say hi and support my friends, but I am not going to report my workouts there. For some reason, if I do it in my own space, I just don't feel so--I don't know, so--well, I just feel more comfortable. That's the kind of thing where one worries because I don't want to hurt their feelings because we're internet friends, but I have to do what works best for me. I still feel funny about it, but my gut is telling me that it's the right choice.

Happy with my decision to rename the blog! Thanks for the supportive comments. =)

Have decided after spending some time looking for new recipes that we all will like that it is futile. I never believed in making separate meals (unless we were having a free-for-all night) but I think for everyone to get proper nutrition with the foods they like, that I'll start doing meals for the boys and something separate for me. That means I get to spend tomorrow online searching for new recipes that sound good to me! I know what the boys like: they're easy. I think that will be a winning solution.

Still planning on a breakfast night once or twice a week. Some type of eggs...cheap and easy protein. Plus, I love breakfast food but I have a weak tummy in the morning and could never eat eggs that early.

Feeling much more hopeful today. I'm glad I decided to start blogging again. I think I needed to rekindle my outlet.

I didn't get much done around the house today, but overall it was a pretty good day. Just wish my son would quit playing Lady GaGa over and over. I don't mind him sharing his music, but I wish he'd hit shuffle so we could hear a greater variety. Paparazzi--I can't get it out of my head! lol

Happy New Year to all!

  1. Great job on the steps!

Also, I decided to do the same for my family with the meals. I can't make my boys eat what I am eating (they're so little that I don't want to mess with their growth by doing all low carb for them...not fair!). I told my husband (who works until 7 p.m. Monday-Friday) that he'll have to start making his own dinner when he gets home because 1.) I can't eat at 7:30 p.m. and then go to bed at 9:40 anymore! and 2.) we're doing Atkins right now to get our bodies kicked into weight loss gear and I can't make him scrambled eggs to be reheated later...ew.

It makes me feel selfish, but it's a sacrifice that'll benefit all of us in the long run. That makes me happy. :)

I'm happy to see you blogging again. I look forward to reading what you write as inspiration.

    *hugs*

  2. I'm with you on the separate meals. Sometimes I just have to bite the bullet and do it. :)

  3. Above all else, follow your gut. :) We're big "breakfast dinner" people, too. In fact, every Wednesday is Omelets and Oatmeal night. Helps with the diet, boredom, and the budget!
