If I do say so myself.
After posting, I decided to bite the bullet and clean out my closet. I don't have a lot of clothes, plus I have a small closet, so it doesn't take that long.
I have 40 free hangers, not counting too-big clothes that are in the dirty clothes and two bags ready for donation. One bag to be cut up for rags. I'll probably have two more bags for donation when I get my laundry done.
As I was organizing, I looked to the floor. There were three suspicious white garbage bags neatly stacked in the back. I had forgotten about them. I pulled them out, and it was like Christmas in August.
Found:
4 size 1X winter shirts. All seven years old, but classic enough to be worn now. I bought these new when I had lost my 70 pounds before.
1 size 1X bathrobe--it FITS!!!!
1 size 20 jeans--can wear NOW!
5 pair capris that I can wear NOW!! (two size 18, one size 1X and two size 20)
2 size 18 shorts--can get them on, but they're snug--future exercise clothes!
3 size 18 capris--can get them on, but snug. May be able to wear them in September. If not, I'm out of luck--I am in Minnesota, land of no more capris after September.
3 size 18 jeans--too snug for now, but this fall! Woot!
2 size 16 jeans--they look so small! I was wearing these when I lost weight before--this was the size I got to.
I am so psyched! Granted it is all seven-year-old stuff, but perfect for around the house. I can still buy a couple of "going out" outfits. I bought all this stuff new the last go round. I remember I bought other things from thrift stores, but I didn't keep that stuff.
What's that passage, give and ye shall receive? I made the decision to bag up for donation, and ta-da, I found a gift I left for myself seven years ago that I had long forgotten about.
The tightwad in me is very excited!
Congrats Jo! What a fabulous and well deserved bit of luck. It's karma! (Also, careful planning: it was wise of you to pack them up last time.)
ReplyDeleteI love it! Christmas in August, indeed!!! I am very happy that you have "new" clothes that fit!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!! I'm getting ready to go through my stuff too. I know I will find some 'new' clothes. It's nice when you don't have to spend money! :)
ReplyDeleteSo VERY excited for you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! I would be psyched, too! So true..."give and ye shall recieve". Awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou are AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing a few weeks ago - found tons of stuff I get to shrink into, and as soon as I have a bag full of big clothes, GoodWill, here I come!
Made me feel tons better knowing I didn't have to spend a fortune on clothes, too - I'm in the tightwad sisterhood, too. ; )
Awesome! Shrinking is so much fun. I'm so glad you found all those clothes, and even happier for you that they fit!
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting!! Never thinking that I would ever, ever lose weight, I've gotten rid of all my smaller clothes, but I can well imagine how great it would be to find bags of them and realize that they fit!! Merry "Christmas"!! :-)
ReplyDeleteOooooooh that is a step higher than getting a package in the mail...and I loooooove getting stuff in the mail. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow utterly fabulous it had to feel to clean out the old & bring in the new(er) & smaller stuff.
Congratulations Jo!!! What an awesome find! I was lucky enough to keep some of my smaller jeans, and it really helped me stay motivated on my way down the scale! Nothing like looking at a pair of jeans and wondering how you EVER fit in them before, only to find that you need the next size down!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you!!! Congrats again!!!
It was a state of euphoria wasn't it? I remember finding a box of Levis in the attic that I didn't have the heart to throw out when they no longer fit. When I found them and they fit or were even loose.... OMG! I felt like a rock star. Trust me, be fore you know it, these "new" finds will be too big too!
ReplyDeleteYay You!!!
You DO Rock!!! Way to go. That's super exciting. It feels great when your hard work pays off & you get to see & feel the rewards of all the sweat!
ReplyDeleteSCORE!!! What a delightful surprise. Even more delightful is that they are useful right now. Good deal.
ReplyDeleteYou DO rock!! Congrats on your Christmas in August find! It is the best feeling in the world to fit into clothes that you were not able to before!! I'm so happy for you.^-^
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome, what a fun day you've had! :-D
ReplyDeletesweeeet! shopping for free, kinda!
ReplyDeleteI am super excited for you! It's like Christmas in August!
ReplyDeleteHell Yes You Rock!
Jackpot!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super find! Nothing like that in my closet because I have been huge for so long and wore everything out. Currently I only have 2 bras and one pair of trousers that properly fit. Hope nobody notices, lol!
ReplyDeleteI just got rid of my first big box of too-big clothes and it felt great! Keep up the fantastic work, Jo!
ReplyDeletewooohooo i love surprises in the closet!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff, I'm hoping I'll be able to fit into some my old stuff soon, too.
ReplyDeleteYou are an inpsiration :-)
Congratulations! I found your blog about a month ago and visit daily. You are an inspiration as my "starting" weight is the same as yours. Are you following Weight Watchers? Keep up the fantastic work!!!
ReplyDeleteLike you discovered Christmas in there!!! You must feel incredible!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome!!
(I think those 16's are gonna fit sooner than you might think)
(And soon, they will be replaced because they too are too big for you!!!)
You're awesome my friend
My best always
Sean
Thanks for all the comments! I was very excited today! (It doesn't take much to excite me, does it? lol)
ReplyDeleteKelly, thanks for commenting. Do you have a blog? It's a great help! Yes, I do Weight Watchers.
WAHOOOO...Great job babe..Keep up your great finds. Now I'm curious and want to go look in your closet to see what else is back there.
ReplyDeleteI love finding clothes that fit and even better getting rid of stuff that's too big. So happy you found yourself some new/old clothes to wear.
ReplyDeleteHey, congrats on the 'new' clothes. Are you a homeschooler? ME TOO. Me and my daughter are starting our year on August 17th. Isn't it weird how all your fat clothes don't just fall off, they get saggy in the weirdest places. keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteChris
lmao at that last sentence! Great finds, missus! :D I am psyched for you!
ReplyDeleteI had similar experience recently, getting ready to move, pulled out bags of clothes I put away that were too tight when I moved in here 3 years ago. Forgot about them until I opened the bags. About half fit, 1/4 still too tight, 1/4 too big already. I've been wearing clothes until they're so loose as to be uncomfortable, and meanwhile I had a whole forgotten wardrobe. I'm hoping not to have to buy too many clothes, though the ex tells me it's time to buy clothes that fit and look nice. Soon....
ReplyDeleteThat is a great jo. its always good to give away things we no longer need because there is always someone out there who could use it more. It is always nice to find suprises and Gratz on the inches that is great. Ive recently went shopping and Im in a size 14 but somehow I think they are really 16 or 18 them damn manufactures are trying to trick us now. Its better to have clothes from before its also cheaper that way. I have clothes in a box from when I was 8 years old.
ReplyDeleteSweetness!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! (Can you tell I'm reading through some of your posts?) I don't have a stock of old clothes hiding anywhere, I don't think. Maybe my closet will suprise me too someday!
