Everything is, um, moving, um, the way it is supposed to. I also woke up feeling great, my color has returned. No more narcotics today! Woo-hoo. I hate that drugged up, loopy feeling.
Not planning on doing much the rest of the week, though. I already had a little nap this morning and plan on another in a few minutes.
I think the worst is behind me now. =)
Eating better today, had some good protein and fat. Logged my food. Weighed 211 this morning, very puffy, but drinking lots of water and know that it will go down soon. That's up 7 pounds. Amazing, isn't it?
It's a beautiful day, I've got a pile of books, my momma's quilt to snuggle up in, and my son taking good care of his momma. Hubby even came home real quick from work this morning to check on me (he forgot his cell phone, but I'd like to think it was to check on me) and he took two minutes to re-arrange the furniture for me so I'd be comfy in front of the TV. He's a good man.
Life is good.
A health, fitness, and weight-loss story.

Like a Kite
I'm like a kite. High up there. lol
Today I started feeling things more. My belly is sore. When I showered, I kind of freaked. My belly is so misshaped. It's distended but only the middle part--it's really weird looking. Plus, I have an allergy to tape and adhesive, so I have red blisters/skin irritated patches all over my belly plus from the EKG stickers. Not fun washing the residue off.
Didn't eat that much today, but I had a craving for ice cream. Real ice cream. My son made me a chocolate shake tonight that hit the spot and was absolute heaven. That's the way to indulge--not gorge, not run out and hit fast food all the time, but to have something when you really, really want it. I didn't count calories at all today, but I know I'm good. Had some toast and pasta. Carbs, carbs, carbs.
Hubby goes back to work tomorrow. I've been putzing around the house, napping, and putzing some more. Still taking the big pain pills--waiting for, um, well, um, a certain thing to happen because I think that will hurt, and then I'm going to just take the ibuprofen. Took a stool softener to help with that certain thing. ;-)
Hubby said to me I'm chatty on the blog just like I am at home while I'm "on drugs." He reads but doesn't comment on the blog. Yup--I'm chatty. But don't get used to me being on drugs because I hate being loopy. Use them when I need them, wean off as soon as possible. I don't drink either, but that's just because there are alcoholics in my family and the smell just instantly takes me to bad memories.
I was 210 pounds this morning--up 6 pounds. I'm very puffy. I have a grayish cast, which hubby noticed immediately after the surgery. I thought I looked more yellowish. I'm not normal--but then I never said I was normal. lol Drinking lots of water and diet Sierra Mist. Even had some decaf coffee today--that was heaven!
Tomorrow I really need to get some decent protein and healthy fats in.

Pity My Husband
When I'm on pain meds I talk. A lot. That's evidenced here by late-night, drug-induced ramblings. Feel very, very sorry for my husband. lol
Feeling better today, but still had to take one of those pain pills. Had a nice breakfast of English Muffin toast and a Diet Sierra Mist. Will probably try some pasta for lunch.
Sweet son asked if I wanted to rent movies and I said no. I plan on watching my virgin exercise DVDs--and maybe even some I love. lol That brings a smile to my face. I also have a Tom Venuto book to read--and a few others all health/food related. I signed hubby up for AARP because I get a card, too, and I also have their latest magazine with Valerie Bertenilli to read. lol
Wanting some major inspiration to fire things up when I'm given the okay to work out. I see the doctor July 1st and I'm only allowed to walk until then. Yawn, I'm just not much of a walker--probably because when I did, I'd get a pain halfway through and then have to walk back hurting. So will figure something out.
My recovery nurse was a triathlete. When I was awake, we talked about fitness quite a bit. Boy did she lecture me to not do weights, not to look about weights, or think about them. I don't need a lecture because I don't want *any* problems whatsoever. It was fun to visit with someone who was so fit, though. I only find that with my online friends.
I'll try not to be so loquacious today. Think I'll go take a nap now. Then I'll annoy my hubby. ;-)
Happy Tuesday. =)

Up from a Snooze with a Funny
Last snack stayed with me, so I had another. Gotta love Lipton's envelope noodle soup: tons of salt and a few noodles thrown in.
Lots of cat naps tonight.
Just thought of the most embarrassing thing that happened to me this year. Went into my room, changed and put on the regular-sized gown. (Victory there!) A nurse and intern asked questions, then the anesthesiologist came in and we talked quite a bit. He left, the nurses left and hubby and DS came in.
Hubby just had to tell me this: "Um, Jo, your breast is showing." I looked down and there was a rip in the gown and sure enough, I was hanging out. It was at nipple level, so I'm sure that doc got an eye full! Good grief!
Forgot all about it and the recovery nurse I had noticed it. She said she'd dispose of the gown when I was done.
Me, oh so modest, letting it all hang out. I can laugh because they've seen it all in their line of work and I'm sure I won't be remembered...but we'll remember it and chuckle about it. At the moment it was discovered, I think I was blushing.
I'd create a new label entitled drug-induced rambling, but I don't want that on my side bar. ;-)

about that scale...
I am not worried about the weight being up, I thought it was FUNNY! Go to the hospital, don't eat anything, barf a little, etc., and up goes the # on the scale.
The weight is from the IV fluids. I gained a lot with the last surgery, too--which was why I even thought to hop on the scale--just for fun.
And I forget to mention (because I'm drugged) that I am totally amazed at how my FITNESS has made my body respond so much better. Last surgery I hurt so bad from vomiting, this time it's just a pain to get sick. My core last year was so weak, and even though I haven't done specific core-targeted training, I'm strong. Yup, I'm strong. Me. Who'd-a-thunk-it??? =D
My boys changed my bed, I got a short nap, got sick again, am now chewing gum to keep my mouth moist. Oh the joys.
So will I blog endlessly about all this and forsake all manners? I might--blame it on the drugs. lol
I don't drink and I don't do drugs except when they're prescribed in times like this. While it's kind of funny to be loopy, I really don't like it. I like calm, cool, collected and in control much better.
Well, back to bed for a bit.

Thank you, God -- Home Sweet Home
I've been praying in every lucid moment...Thank you, God.
I'm home. I'm on drugs, so I'm wonky, but I'm home.
My bladder was adhered to my uterus.
Doc removed an ovarian cyst from both ovaries.
I had a tubal ligation.
Um...I know there's more, the nurse was telling me about adhesions but I was on drugs. Hubby just referred to the bladder adhesion, which the nurse did not.
I'll get more out of this when I go back to visit the doctor July 1. I'll know more then.
I am SO thankful. I'm hoping my pain will be gone. In fact, I was in less pain all day today when drugs were wearing off than I was when I had my high pain days. I felt better. When I woke up I thought, "This is it for pain? I did insist on pain meds for the drive home though.
Also had a good anesthesiologist. He pushed tons of anti-nausea drugs. I always throw up after surgery. I didn't this time. No, this time I waited until the nurse had wheeled me into the lobby and I threw up in front of everyone. When I do it, I do it right. lol (So embarrassing.)
Was so proud I didn't get sick in the car. Last time I did after we drove 100 feet. That made my hubby gag, my son gag, because it's gross. Well, once again I did it in style. When we were blocks away from home, I started throwing up in the car. I thought hubby was going to lose it, but he didn't.
Sheesh.
I am feeling more positive and hopeful and excited. Any time I get validated--yes, there was a reason for all that pain--I just feel a little less, well, crazy. I guess when my doctor made that comment that surgery may just be therapeutic, he planted doubt seeds in me. I know my body, I knew that pain was real, I just need to trust myself more.
The funniest thing that happened? Got home to discover the cat got sick on my bed--the bed with the clean sheets and comforter all ready for me. Good grief! So I have been snoozing on the love seat and need to get my nurses to change my sheets. lol I told hubby that was going to happen. I was right. I love my 16-year-old cat anyway.
Thank you so much for the prayers and well wishes. I hope once I'm mended I can start giving back and being more supportive. I miss that. I just needed to take care of me for awhile, though.
Jo, who left the house weighing 204 and came home at 210 pounds!!! lol

It's Monday
Weight: 204
same as last week
Today is my surgery. Would appreciate prayers and good vibes.
Surgery is at 1 central time. I'm really going to be hungry and thirsty by then. I'm already aching for coffee!
That's it. Have a great day, everyone.
